Zübeyde Hanım Primary School

Zübeyde Hanım Primary School is located is one of the veteran schools located in Mersin, the eighth largest city to the South of Turkey. The school currently has a student body of about 700 pupils, aged between 5 and 14 years. Zübeyde Hanım Primary School is known for providing hope for children from destitute background and single-parent families. Aside from just financial constrains, many of these kids have many challenges when it comes to studying. They are however very willing to interact with students from other cultures as well as learn the English language.

The primary school was established in 1975 with just a single building which was opposite to Kizivalu, also called Bazalika. At this time, the school was still called 'Fatih'. It was initially a girls' school, but was later transformed to a primary school. Currently, Zübeyde Hanım Primary School incorporates 13 classrooms and separate computer rooms. The school also has many other laboratories for scientific and technological studies.
